FOR OUR SAKE

TEXT: But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53vs5).

MESSAGE

By inheritance, every human race is guilty of death; every human race is liable to enter eternal damnation. Why? Every man is corrupt by birth (Psalms 51vs5). Every man is wicked by birth, every man becomes an automatic liar from childhood, every man is rebellious from birth or childhood. Everyone does this, not because he or she is being persuaded or engineered by another person but because it is exhibited by nature which Adam and Eve originated into human race. Your anger, lies, hypocrisy, wickedness, immorality, rebellion, etc are as a result of the nature of sin inherited from Adam and Eve. This nature is capable of eternal destruction because it does not and can never do the will of God. Anyone who still lives in this nature is walking into eternal destruction.

However, the good news is, that God made a provision for our deliverance from this nature of sin. God’s Spirit descended upon the Virgin Mary, and she became pregnant of Jesus whom God has sent to deliver us from the nature and power of sin and death. To carry the assignment out, He had to teach us the way of salvation, suffered for what he did not do, just because of the deliverance of the human race from the nature and power of sin and death; He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities, even the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, He was given many stripes (beating) on all His body, He was nailed on the cross of Calvary at Golgotha, He died for our sins, He resurrected on the third day and later ascended back to Heaven to prepare an eternal home for as many that will accept Him as their only Lord and Saviour unto the end.

Beloved, Jesus Christ has paid the price for our physical and spiritual healing. As many that still live in sin is spiritually sick. What they need is to approach the throne of Grace which is appeared to all men (Titus 2vs11) and obtain mercy (Hebrews 4vs16).

POINT TO NOTE: Jesus Christ suffered and died for our own sake. We must not allow all that He did to go in vain.

ACTION POINT: Are you spiritually sick? Humbly approach the throne of Grace now so that you may obtain mercy and repent immediately.

GATHER STRENGTH

TEXT: If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small (Proverbs 24vs10)

MESSAGE

The man called David was a very strong man in his days. He faced so many challenges that could have taken his life and possibly jeopardize the plan of God for him. For weeks, he was being pursued to be killed by king Saul. After he became the king of Israel, his own son raised himself against him. David faced a lot of trials and tribulations before and during his reign as a king. In all these things, David never wished to kill his enemy. When his son who was after him died, he was very sorrowful for him. Many times, Christians face trials, tribulations and persecution, instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to help them in such challenges, they tend to use their instinct – of course, they come back regretting over their actions; they come back defeated.

The secret of David’s strength lies in his constant fellowship with God. It is in the presence of/fellowship with God that we can receive sufficient strength to face every challenge. This was what king Solomon lacked that made him to marry 1000 wives and concubines. He fainted in the day of adversity because he failed to gather strength, he failed to fellowship with God, he failed to tarry in God’s presence. The reason for your consistent defeat lies in the lack of fellowship with God; it is as a result of not tarrying in the presence of God; it is as a result of not studying God’s word; it is as a result of jettison the word of God. When you tarry in God’s presence – in prayer, studying His word and singing praises to Him, you become unconquerable, except your prayers are selfish in nature.

Beloved, the solution to your problems is in a constant fellowship with God, tarrying in His presence, obeying every word He speaks to you, living in holiness and righteousness, and letting your life preach to others in humility.

POINT TO NOTE: The more you tarry in God’s presence, the more strengthened you should become. The more obedient you are to the word of God, the more powerful you become.

ACTION POINT: Always fellowship with God. Always tarry in the presence of God. Always live in obedience to His word.

YOU CAN RISE AGAIN

TEXT: The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand (Psalms 37vs23-24)

MESSAGE

The world is so full of corruption and all kinds of atrocities that even the children of God are becoming victims of what God detests. The world is full of distractions; there is no way a man will pass through a day without being confronted with distractions – things that could wave one’s focus. Many have fallen to the corruption and distractions of this world and are still falling to this world’s corruption. Many are on the ground, thinking they cannot rise again. The biblical as story of David explains today’s bible text. David fell many times but he never remained on the ground; he never justified his behaviour; he was always ready to call on God for mercy and repentance.

Beloved, as a child of God, never remain on the ground, stand to your feet, shake off the dust on you, make good use of time, go to God for his mercy and cleansing. He is always ready to raise any fallen child up, if such child recognises his shortcomings. The difference between Saul and David was that Saul did justified his mistakes/errors/sins, but David was always broken at every sin he committed. Make a decision now to stand up from the ground and shale off the dust, then go to God for mercy and cleansing.

POINT TO NOTE: As long as a man is still living, his fall is not the end of his life, if he can retrace his steps and stand to fight again.

ACTION POINT: Stand to your feet, shake off the dust on you and go to God for His Mercy and cleansing.

A FRUITFUL RELATIONSHIP

TEXT: Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart (Psalms 37vs4).

MESSAGE

Relationship begins from childhood to adulthood. There are different kinds of relationship – friendship, marital, etc. Irrespective of any relationship you find yourself, it can never be compared to having a relationship with God/Holy Spirit. Every relationship always begin with an interest in one another. Something attracts one to the other person. In the same way, something often attracts us to having a relationship with God/Holy Spirit and that is our incompleteness and helplessness – without God, we cannot achieve any good and great thing. Without God/Holy Spirit, we will always experience defeat in any battle; without God/Holy Spirit, we will always be in dark because He is the only one who reveals what is in secret.

How therefore can you begin a relationship with God/Holy Spirit, if you have not begun or if you have lost your relationship with Him?

You need to delight in HIM. The word “HIM” represents His word, His will and His ways. You need to embrace the word of God, irrespective of its sharpness and straightness – you are expected to study His word and obey them; when He speaks to you, you are expected to embrace His word joyfully. You need also to delight in His will – salvation, holiness without which no man shall see the Lord, righteousness, sanctification, preaching and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, loving one another as He loves us, etc. are His will towards mankind. We are expected to exhibit these things/virtues secretly and openly, anywhere and everywhere, anytime and every time. Also, to delight in God means to delight in His ways – holy ways, righteous ways, way of love, etc. When we stay with God/Holy Spirit, we will certainly know His ways. As we know His ways, we are to pattern our lives towards His word, will and way.

By doing these, most times, before we ask for anything, He supplies them to us. Why? This is because we delight in HIM.

POINT TO NOTE: You miss a lot and you are apparently in darkness when you don’t or fail to have any relationship with God/Holy Spirit.

ACTION POINT: Begin a relationship with God/Holy Spirit now. It begins by total and continual surrender of one’s totality to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

NO CHRIST, NO CONQUERING

TEXT: There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength (Psalms 33vs16)

MESSAGE

It is an undeniable truth that nobody prepares for battle on the battlefield. Battles must have been prepared for ahead the contest or battle. In the preparation for the battle, some run after different gods or goddesses, some trust in their intelligence and professionalism – they sit to analyse the psychology of war; some trust in the availablity of weapons; some trust in the manipulation of nature in fighting battles. In a nutshell, while preparing for battles, people trust in different forces and personalities. A very good and biblical example is Goliath. He so much trusted in his professionalism, trusted in his psychological competency, he trusted in his ammunitions and he also trusted in the gods of the Philistines. The end of his life was ironic, when a little boy confronted, defeated and killed him with just a stone. The story of David and Goliath showed us that without God/Christ, we are defeated beings and with God/Christ, we are conquering beings.

Beloved, it is dangerous to be looking for bible in the face of trial and temptations. You need to equip yourself with the word of God. The world is full of battles – against distractions, immoralities, corruption and all kinds of sin. When you fail to prepare for all these by walking with God in His word and prayer, you will certainly become a prey in the battlefield. Anyone who is not in Christ, who is still exhibiting worldliness cannot be a conqueror. Of you are not saved from sins, you are still a slave of the devil and you will certainly be defeated in the battlefield.

POINTS TO NOTE: You don’t prepare for battle on the battlefield or on the day of battle. You can only trust in God Almighty through Jesus Christ when faced with challenges.

ACTION POINT: Give our life to Jesus Christ genuinely. Live daily walking with God/Holy Spirit, obey Him and see yourself conquering battles, as God will always be there to fight for you.
